I went BH last season and it was awesome and an easy drive from Las Vegas, where I live. I recommend it. Much better than the options in SoCal. If you are near Tahoe, I would reccommend skiiing there.

LV is open because they are greedy and open prior to adequate coverage just to make money early. Brianhead opens when it knows it can provide a quality time.
