Just got back from 4 days in Zermatt and Cervinia. Italy side is much better. No ice. Swiss side needs lots of snow. Groomers are all blue and green. Without 12-18" of powder this place is not for the agressive boarder, or planker.
skied a week icy, met brit ppl told france 3 valley, charmonix much better, will go to france next time. too much stress to worry about if can come back fr italy side, lifts close when bad weather
just skied 1 wk, swiss side needs lot more snow, very icy, narrow runs. italian sides are excellent, more sunny, wide runs, soft snow, long long runs #1 to valtounenche, #7 to cervinia. but its closed when snows.
I like the chocolate
Just skied Zermatt yesterday ( Nov 17th ). THere is only limited area open, but there is more than enough and there is plenty of good cover both and and off piste......Hear that Cervinia is the best area currently but we didn't get over there
Spent February 18-24 in Zermatt. There is a reasonable amount of snow, but most of it is hard pack and limited to the central pistes. The Cervinia side (which we did twice) was in slightly better shape...with softer snow. The crowds were large,.efficient lifts but still some of the transitions require a lot ski carrying and trudging. Long runs, but too many catwalks with the limited new snow.
Any other updates we arrive on the 26th of this Month.
I could not find an accurate snow report before coming to Zermatt two days ago. But I am here now...It did snow at least 70cm on Saturday, but not much new snow in the weeks previous. Many of the pistes are closed, but the ones that are open are very well groomed and there is still some fresh tracks to be had - powder, but on the heavy side.
