Bear Creek Ski and Recreation Area"s biggest asset is its proximity to Philadelphia. And with 70% of its terrain geared towards novices and intermediates (in a 30/40 split) urban snow warriors will find user-friendly terrain on which to learn and improve. An annual average of 40" of snow isn"t a lot but with 100% snowmaking on the 86 acres and 510 vertical feet of terrain it hardly matters.

Eighteen trails are available with the longest measuring exactly a mile in length. Two large areas are perfect for new skiers and riders, and feature a double chair and surface lifts, including a Magic Carpet. All told there are eight lifts, including a fixed-grip quad, a triple, and two doubles.

Naturally there"s a ½ pipe and a terrain park, the latter with a good choice of rails and some huge jumps.

Most of the trails are lit for night operation. Bear Creek also has a large tubing park, lift-served and lit.

The base facilities are all new. The new 57,000 square foot base lodge features all guest services, a new daycare center, a new ski school facility and a new children"s learning center, along with all-new food service and The Grille at Bear Creek. The centerpiece of the new base facilities is The Inn at Bear Creek, a 53-room hotel with an adjacent 6640 square foot banquet hall. Topping off the new construction is a 7400 square foot rental shop, just steps away from the lodge and ticket windows.
