SANDIA PEAK, NM

Sandia Peak First Hand Ski Reports

just snowed alot of powder
getting crusty on top, was a treat to be able to ski runs that are usually closed like Burn and lil' suicide, diablo was best on the hill as the powder was still fluffy, could use some grooming on all the midway most western lift runs
lots of powder!!! real nice....
I, for one, love Sandia and I am from DC. I skied there one day and found the people to be gracious and the scenery amazing. I have family in ABQ and will ski Sandia whenever I get the chance. After the season, the La Luz Trail is a great day hike. Frankly, I would hope that my fellow Easterners lighten up and stay in Co and UT. Leave Sandia to those who appreciate it.
easterners need to stop talking sh!t just cuz its better in the south west and west where its more natrual unlike the east when all u see is a bunch of buildings every where u go and is not over crowded
Sandia may not have a high speed quad but they do have a tram that takes me from a large metropolitum area to some great skiing.
Sandia has more snow than most Colorado areas. Take advantage, this is an "every ten years" season
It would be worthless to invest in better, faster lifts at sandia when we dont get even decent snow but every 4-5 years. Santa Fe maybe, but not Sandia. Oh and stay in the east because us westerners dont want you corrupting our way of life any further.
simple minded easterners, bigger and faster doesnt always mean better
Congratulations Sandia on an epic year! Happy days!
we work smart not hard, dumb east coast people cant even stop to smell the roses and they'll be poorer people in their souls because of it. So no matter what you say there will always be maƱana and i will always live today.
Locals should take advantage this year. The snow is great this year, and we never know what the next year will bring. BTW, lift #3 is not all that bad. Quit whinning! Some folks have to drive hours, especially on the east coast, to get to some place with fake snow.
Please go back to WV or wherever - we don't WANT you here
Ok all you people complaining.....stop going than. Let us enjoy our snow and resorts! Especially all you snooty east coast people!
I came from the mid-atlantic where resorts with 900ft of virt in PA, VA, and WV had multiple high speed quads and 100% snowmaking coverage. Typical lazy New Mexico excuses for not trying harder and not investing. NM lacks the ambition and work ethic of the rest of America. So much untapped potential.
ok for the people complaining about the lifts - they ARE really slow and long. However, despite good season this year, the past ten years have included back to back seasond when they never opened. They also close really early - when Spring starts arriving the people in Albuquerque just quit going. More dedicated skiers and boarders skip Sandia and go farther North. They're only open Wednesday and weekends....so, new lifts don't seem viable. Sorry
snowed hard all day, great powder! Slow lifts but no lines. really cold day but it was worth it
owner(who owns sandia, and santa fe ski area) needs to quit being greedy and upgrade the lifts already. it is a obvious problem, and if the owner had any brains he would know that uprgrading the lifts would double his outcome of people that enjoy sandia every season
Had fun today, but the snow is getting crunchy. Snow is comming tomorrow! Totally agree with the slow lift problem. Given there are 800,000 people in and around ABQ, Sandia could really do well if they added more snowmaking, one quad, and more parks.
I'd like to see something to replace the old poma lift they had years ago. They need something to serve that side of the mountain. Lifts 1 + 3 are too close, but we need a few years of good snow before they can think of improving anything. I was there on the 15th and had a great time. When there's snow there is nothing like Sandia - close, beautiful, reasonable and fun.
