Just got back from Sauze d'Oulx - had a brilliant week but the snow was rather thin and icy. Was very much worth a trip down to Montgenevre for a day to find good snow, but just as we were leaving this morning a huge dump of snow was being delivered!! Gutted! But good for anyone heading out there soon I guess. Nightlife was great also, but a few too many men around...!
March 10th - Salmon Excellent ski-ing had a great time, nightlife amazing go and sample the talent loads of singles on this resort. the square is the place.
Some good skiing to be had, despite the lack of snow. Better here than in Sestriere, which was very icy. Glorious conditions - cloudless skies, fantastic views. Busy at the weekends with Italians arriving in droves, but at other times the slopes are very quiet, especially in the afternoons. Not all runs open, and it looks a little patchy in places, but enough for beginners and intermediates.
First day of Skiing 08 Jan07. Good skiing up top and down the back. Snow cannons on the go day and night when temperatures let. Very icy in AM as per cannons. Getting thin at Sportinia by 13th Jan. Some good skiing, however not all runs open.
Sauze dOulx opened Sat morning with most of the snow from cannons. The slopes are empty and perfect if you want the piste all to yourself. There is minimum powder for boarders. If you would like better snow and powder head to Montgenevre.
