The time of year to stick it to the season pass holder is here again.9-5 hours during the week for the 12 people in the house. Going to one work shift is fine, but what's wrong with 11-7 or 12-8?
the dude who boasts he's been to "10 actual mountains" must be a crack head. you don't need to visit but 1 mountain to realize chestnut is a wannabe ski resort. it's not their fault, they are what they are. but polishing a turd doesn't make it a diamond.
trying to compare chestnut to mammoth is absolutely crazy. chestnut's vertical is lower than sundown! and their annual snowfall is less than a third of what falls in the tahoe region. you must be crazy or you work for the resort. chestnut's saving grace is their beginner areas and the fact that in the midwest, beggers can't be choosers.
just skiied threre all day and there was a competitiion, so there r great terrain trails, all runs open, perfect amont of powder mixed in with hard ice( i guess thats what you call it?) but at night it gets pretty icy, but over all it was great!!!!
So far in my life I have been to over 10 actual mountains, and I am proud to say that this place honestly compares to the likes of Timberline(Mt. Hood), Mt. Baker, and even Mammoth. I am an experienced boarder, having been snowboarding for 17 years and the park wasn't as challenging as I was hoping. They aren't building a pipe this year but hey it's the midwest. If you are looking for a place to go that's close to home come down to Chestnut, just as good as a "mountain" and half the price.
im going there tommorow i'll say how it is.
