Next time try the back side, to la Grave!
I hated it !!!! There was no powder, it was all ice !!!!!!
Skied 3 times in 2Alpes last week and the snow was fantastic, it snowed 22" on monday and there was untracked powder all week. Coming from the US I found it very difficult to get a real read on conditions in France but was very pleased to find it's been a great winter and conditions are excellent for early April!
It snowed all of last night and there was a good 30 cm this morning, and it has been snowing steadily ever since here in Les Deux Alpes. Definitely need ski pants to take the dog for a walk this afternoon, and can't wait until the lifts open on 1st Dec.
The trail map refers only to the top of the glacier open also in sommer, in winter there are far more slopes available
The trail map on this site is bogus. Les Deux Alpes is a very big resort (by American standards.) There are long, rolling cruisers up top for intermediates and if you are a creative expert, you can find good steeps sprinkled in the Off-Piste. Not as expansive or amazing as Val D'Isere or Chamonix, but a great mountain worth skiing.
Decent snow conditions. Not too much fresh snow, and you can't descend to the town (at least not without destroying your skis). All in all, not a bad choice if you happen to live nearby (comme moi) as its higher than a lot of other mountains. If you're planning a trip, I'd recommend Chamonix, Val D'Isere, Val Thoren as better this year...
Most of the pists are oppened, height of snow is between 40 and 110 centimetres.
