Steamboat First Hand Ski Reports

tough day today. very windy. the mountain was closed until 1:30 but when it opened it was empty so got a lot of runs in
resort closed cuz of wind hope it opens 2morrow
bad today! wind blowlng major! lufts clised still. 11 am
Goin to snow tonite!
Great day today. just enough powder to have a fun day.
great snow and perfect bluebird day. cover is finally pretty good. Agree with the comments on steeps. If you want steeps go to Jackson or Alta. if you want great bumps and trees, and an amazing town and ski school, come to Steamboat.
found the best powder on the mountain. knee deep, tight trees, as steep as the chutes. i wont say exactly where, but if you know the mountain well, you should be able to find it. its right near the chutes. and it is definitely for the experts.
even the hour and a half hike off the mountain loop isnt as steep as inbounds at many resorts, but if you like the best tree skiing, the best deep consistant snow(every other year) and a huge local attitude...
awwaome day.
Wow! Jamaica produced an Olympic Bob Sled Team and now they have someone in the Iditarod. Go somewhere else and the double black diamond sign will have a new meaning to those who have not ventured out of the Summit area and Yampa Valley.
poor visibility but great fresh powder everywhere esp in the trees today
dude olympians dont free ski, they ride rock hard iced runs that every resort guest would complain about for days. steamboat is what it is, but the experylt terrain is limited. its no crested butte, snowmass or jackson hole for sure
foggy and icy. bsd combo. snowing now though!!
Steamboat does have some steeps, they just happen to be 50 feet long. Great place though, great snow and great people.
Let's try to be objective and relevant here, the Boat is a great mountain, but if you and the kids you grew up with skiing at Squaw are heading out for a gentleman's week of skiing, then there are much better mountains. I spent a week at the Boat at Christmas, we had a few nice powder days, but the place can get old after a while. There are some good turns here and there, but nothing that will leave you fearing for your life if you miss a turn!
Can't see a thing - really, really in a fog!
Wow ! Steamboat sure has produced a lot of Olympians on "non- expert" slopes !
just had 3 of the best tree boarding days of my life.... champagne pow pow all ocer christmas tree gullu
there were at least 9" of new snow on top of the mountain this morning.
The turd who says there isn't much for experts has obiviously never been to the KeyHole or around Hell's Face.
