If you don't like powder and only want groomers, then stay home...this place is awesome for advanced-skilled skiiers/riders.

FYI, Portillo, La Parva, Valle Nevado and Farellones-Colorado are within a day-trip range from Santiago, so you don't have to commit to the full week
Are they open? Is there going to be a report this year or not?
I skied Portillo in 2003. The scenery is great, and while the area is different from typical North American resorts, it's great to ski during our summer! I don't like that South American ski areas make you book a week package. For an American to fly all that way, most would want to ski more than one resort as well as experience the cultue and visit cities, wineries etc.

Skied Four days 16th - 20th.Great snow, very boring unless you like very short steep runs. Mucho Plata.. But very nice people.

Still a large base above the hotel, on Roca Jack and off Condor. Mostly packed powder, but you can still find a lot of soft snow down teh SuperC and if you hike back above the lake.
