The road condition is fine. You just have to bring snow chains just in case of the weather changest.

Drive to Mammoth is easy (about 5 hrs). If there is snow you need chains but almost no winding roads.

You should be fine, depending on snowfall, 4 wheel drive always good.

Mammoth roads are plowed. If it's snowing have 4x4 and or chains just in case

You'll be taking US 395 to get up to mammoth. Definitely won't have any problems until bishop and even after that very unlikely for you to run into trouble. The roads are well maintained and I've rarely had to use chains while driving around the mammoth lakes area.

Just be careful of storms the montain road only gets bad in the middle or right after a storm. You'll be fine all the way past bishop and at most will only need chains for the last ten miles or so as long as it isn't dumping!

Your going to need chains if you don't know how to put them on or if you don't have any the chains are $40
