The Donner Ski Ranch started up its first rope tow in 1937. Today they offer over 50 runs serviced by 5 doubles and a triple. A lot may have changed at Donner since the 30's, but the idea of offering an easy-on, easy-off, simple approach to skiing and riding certainly has not. In fact, that is what this family owed and operated ski area prides itself on, offering a atmosphere that is laid back, carefree and fun. Terrain Donner Ski Ranch has terrain for all ability levels including a number of options for the beginners and the intermediates. It is an excellent place for families with children being both big enough, with 460 acres of terrain, and small enough, with 750 of vertical, to be the perfect size for all family members to find a run that suits their ability but still meet up easily for lunch or just to check in. Donner also puts a lot of focus on keeping their prices for everything, from food and lift tickets, to lessons and rentals, family oriented as well. Meaning you don't have to break the bank to bring the family! Donner has on-site lodging at the Summit House and there are also a number of other lodging and dining options in nearby Truckee. Off-slope fun Cross-country skiing, ice skating as well as shopping, movies and other entertainment can be found around Donner and Truckee as well.
