RE: Public Transport......no you don't need a car unless you're going to places not served by Public Transport. All of the major ski resorts are served by motorcoach from Innsbruck (free if you have a ski pass). Motorcoach stops all around town and at the major hotels.
How hard is it to get around in Austria on public transport? Do you need a car
Response to Anonymous - Dec. 18th. Been to Innsbruck several times and have never had a problem finding a place to ski. Don't know which resorts around Innsbruck you're interested in but remember that the Stubai Glacier is easily accesible and has year-round sking. You should have no problems in Jan.
Is this ski report site right? Thje mountains at innsbruck are still not open? I'm going Jan. 2nd, somebody please tell me that the mountain is OPEN!!!!!
I'm going to Innsbruck on the 18th - 23rd of December, can anybody tell me what the snow is like and if there are any resorts that i should stay clear of?
are the conditions favorable in Innsbruck the middle of december?will be there for the first time and don't know what to expect..Qatar
Skied Mar 2-7 at 4 areas. Snow coverage on top is adequate. Nothing or mashed potatoes on bottom. Visabily due to fog was a serious problem on all but 1 day. Schlick 2000 was a fun area and great intermediate skiing. The Stubai glacier has best snow and slopes if you can see. Axamer is ok but base facilities and lodges are not that great. If the sun is out it's great, if it's raining ????
There is no snow in the city...however the mountain is ok if you go to the moltal glacier...all the ski buses from all the hotels go there...and it's free...axamer lizum is kind of wet....december/january is probably the best time to hit those...(except for this past year)
