is anybody skiing in 2010? Foxy wants to know?
This website needs to update! Altenmarkt/Zauchensee is indeed open (opened on 05 DEC). I spent all day yesterday (06 DEC) skiing and let me tell you, the conditions are amazing. It snowed during the night, so in the morning there was nothing but fresh powder and freshly groomed trails to play on. Its still pretty empty since its so early in the season and I can’t wait to get down there again.
I was down there this weekend (27 NOV)... there is plenty of snow! Just waiting for them to open. Had to ski at Flachau up the street.
Skied on Saturday, 24FEB. Considering the weather we have had, it wasn’t bad, especially the nearer to the summit you went. Most trails had a mixture of hardpack, ice and thin, loose powder, making for pleasant, if somewhat inconsistent skiing. It was somewhat crowded, but manageable. Average time to wait for a lift was around 5-10 minutes. Overall, I would give it 7 out of 10.
